Teacher Training

We have designed a comprehensive program, including Yoga philosophy, anatomy, and asana. With ten weekend sessions, we hope to make our certification available to everyone, even those with busy work lives. Our 180 hour Teacher Training Program meets the requirements for registration with the national Yoga Alliance at the RYT200 level. If you are thinking about becoming a yoga teacher, then we hope that you will consider our program. Feel free to call us with questions.

We encourage you to drop by the studio for a class to see our school and experience our teaching. With an active studio in Norman, we offer the opportunity for student teachers to be part of our community. Our goal is to create a safe and supportive environment for our students and our student teachers. We make it clear from day one what your requirements are to finish, how long it will take, and when our weekend trainings will meet. The ideas and input of all students and student teachers are valued. If you’ve been teaching for some time and want to get certified, we will help you get through the process with an attitude of mutual respect.

Our program is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an approved yoga school. The Yoga Alliance teacher registry is recognized all over the USA within the yoga community. Most yoga studios, and now many athletic clubs too, require teachers to have completed a yoga-training program that is included in the Yoga Alliance school registry. This assures the studio owner or athletic club manager that the teacher has received the training necessary to plan and teach yoga classes that are well structured and safe for participants. The Yoga Alliance requires all schools on their registry to meet a set of guidelines and minimum requirements. For more information about their requirements you can visit their website at www.yogaalliance.org.

Total Cost $2000

Payment for the Teacher Training Program may be made in one lump sum of $2000 or in 10 payments of $200.

Register by calling the studio at 405-426-5990 or e-mailing us at becca@normanyoga.com. Those who would like to attend our training weekends for the growth of their personal practice, but do not intend to teach yoga, are also welcome to register.

It’s important when choosing a yoga school to pick a Director whose teaching you like and respect. Going through a program just for the certification takes the joy of learning out of the experience for both teacher and student teacher. All training hours for our program are taught by Becca Hewes. Before registering for our program, please talk with Becca and attend one of her public yoga classes if possible to ensure that her teaching is in alignment with your ideas about teaching and practicing yoga.

In addition to our approval from the Yoga Alliance, our school is also licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools. In order to be licensed, a school must meet the board’s qualifications and rules in such areas as financial stability, sound business practices, and fair refund polices.

Norman is a part of the greater Oklahoma City area and a great place to come for training. We have many wonderful ethnic restaurants and a variety of hotels near our school. YogaLife is located just a mile from the Main Street exit off of I-35, about a five minute drive from the University of Oklahoma. If you are driving in from out of town we are happy to assist you in choosing lodging and places to eat that will best fit your budget.
